Bungie has finally got around to regularly adding new catalysts to their exotic weapons with each passing season and major content drop. Season of Dawn is no different and it has added two new ones, one of which is Black Talon sword. Here is how to get the Black Talon catalyst in Destiny 2 as of Season of Dawn.

How to Get Black Talon Catalyst in Destiny 2

First, before we dive into how to specifically get the Black Talon catalyst in Destiny 2 as of Season of the Dawn, let’s make one thing super clear in case it’s not obvious. In order to actually get the catalyst you must first own Black Talon, otherwise it will never drop.

The sword is a random world drop from year 2. So you can either pray to RNGesus, or if you have legendary shards to burn you can visit our ol’ pal Xur every week and buy his fated engrams until you get what you need.

Anyway, once you have the sword to get the Black Talon catalyst, all you need to do is complete activities and you’ll have a chance of it dropping.

How to Get Black Talon catalyst in Destiny 2

  • Complete Strike or Crucible activities.

  • It’s early in the Season of Dawn as of the time of this writing, so reports are still coming in, but we can confirm that you can definitely get the catalyst to drop by completing Strike activities, and we are hearing players are getting it as a drop from Crucible as well. It’s likely Gambit will drop it too, but we cannot confirm that at the time of this writing.

If you’re a big fan of this exotic sword or are a Titan with Stronghold, this is one catalyst worth getting. Here’s what it does once you get it and unlock its perk: When you block with Black Talon for a short period of time, its Crow’s Wing perk gains a substantial damage boost.

This pairs very nicely with Titan’s Stronghold exotics which allows you to block infinitely without draining ammo and heals you on perfectly timed blocks.

Once you have the Black Talon catalyst unlocked, you simply need to get a bunch of kills with it to unlock the perk. It’s not too hard, just run around your activity of choice and go HAM.

That’s all you need to know for how to get the Black Talon catalyst as of Destiny 2 Season of Dawn. For more tips, tricks and FAQs answered, be sure to check out our year 3 wiki guide.
