How to Get Nuclear Material in Fallout 76

Fallout 76 drops you into the wilds of a post-apocalyptic West Virginia, forcing you to scavenge to survive, as is tradition in the series. Survival elements and scavenging have been focused on even more this time around, and you’ll need plenty of materials to craft items for your C.A.M.P. or new equipment. One of the trickier materials to get your hands on in Fallout 76 is nuclear material, and it can come from a variety of sources. Here’s how to get nuclear material in Fallout 76.

Scrapping Items For Nuclear Material

Your primary way of getting nuclear material in Fallout 76 will be from scrapping items. There’s a variety of things that yield the material when scrapped, some easy to find some not so easy. Here’s a list of what we know will yield nuclear material. Of course, if you’ve found any other items put them in the comments down below.

  • Biometric Scanner
  • Blast Radius Board Game
  • High-Powered Magnet
  • Ignition Core
  • Mini Nuke Beryllium Cap
  • Mini Nuke Detonator Shell
  • Rad Poker Board Game
  • Vault-Tec Alarm Clock
  • Wakemaster Alarm Clock

As a tip, if you head to the Pleasant Valley Cabins, which is just East of Relay Tower HN-B1-12, you can find quite a few board games and Biometric Scanners. Head to the cabins and pillage all the buildings and you should be able to get yourself quite a bit of nuclear material.

If you have any of these items in your inventory, just head to any workbench and break them down into scrap. Of course, if you find yourself with too many items on hand you can always drop stuff in your S.T.A.S.H. box and pull it out later to break down.

Mining for Nuclear Material

Outside of breaking down items your other option for getting nuclear material in Fallout 76 is mining, but it’s a bit harder to come by. Like other materials in the game, there are a handful of locations that will let you mind nuclear material, yielding more than your average item will. Claiming Workshop outposts will let you repeatedly mine them for materials, and there are a few that will give you nuclear material.

These locations include Poseidon Energy Plant Yard Workshop, Federal Disposal Field Workshop, Mt. Power Plant Yard Workshop, and Red Rocket Mega Stop Workshop. Head over to any of these locations and you can scavenge them for materials. You don’t have to claim the workshop in order to scavenge them, but doing so will let you collect materials in bulk.
