How to Get New Operators in Rainbow Six Siege

As of Mar. 6, all 20 of Rainbow Six Siege’s original operators and their weapons’ attachments have been automatically unlocked for all players, which leaves 24 of the seasonal operators from years 1, 2, and 3, to be unlocked. Just as the launch operators needed to be unlocked via the in-game currency “Renown,” so do the seasonal ones. This choice to unlock new operators was for Rainbow Six Siege’s new pick and ban system, which will allow players to ban certain operators for each round in-game.

You can get more renown by just playing the game, but for new players, the best way to get early renown is by completing the tutorial missions, which provide large amounts of renown for little effort. Once you’ve completed those, you should have enough to get one of the new operators. If you don’t want to spend the time in-game grinding for renown, you can also buy the season passes for each year, with the new year 3 pass being $29.99.  Alternatively, if you don’t want to spend the money for every operator, you can buy Rainbow Six Siege’s paid currency, R6 Credits. Credits are used to buy any of the game’s items, including characters, weapon attachments, skins, and skins for the operators themselves. You can use these to buy operators individually the same way you would buy them with renown.

From the menu screen, going into your operators menu shows symbols for every operator currently in the game. By selecting an operator you have not already unlocked, you’re given the option to select the “Unlock with renown” option, which unlocks the character. From there, you’ll also need to use renown to unlock all the weapon attachments on their guns, which can be done by going into the character’s loadout, selecting the gun you want to modify, and purchasing the attachments you want.

That’s all you need to know to get new operators in Rainbow Six Siege. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
