One of the trickier Pokemon to get your hands on in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is Gallade. That’s because, in order to get it, you’ll need to evolve your Kirlia, but not in the same way that you would to get a Gardevoir. Instead, there are a few specific things you’ll need to do, and we’ll explain exactly how to evolve Kirlia into Gallade in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl here.

Catching Kirlia

Kirlia is a non-exclusive Pokemon, meaning it can be caught in both Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl in the following locations:

  • Dazzling Cave (Once National Dex has been obtained)
  • Route 203 (Using Poke Radar)
  • Route 204 (Using Poke Radar)
  • Stargleam Cavern (Once National Dex has been obtained)

Evolving Kirlia into Gallade in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

To evolve Kirlia into Gallade, you must use a Dawn Stone on a male Kirlia.

To do this, open your Bag, select the Dawn Stone and then choose to use it on Kirlia in your party. A small animation will play out as it evolves into Gallade.

Kirlia does not have to be a set level in order to evolve into Gallade with the Dawn Stone.

If the Kirlia is female, you won’t be able to use the Dawn Stone on it and it will instead evolve into Gardevoir at level 30.

Getting a Dawn Stone

Head to Oreburgh City and then make your way north to Route 207. Take a right before the grass and use your Bike’s ‘Mach’ setting to get up the slope. Take a right at the top and head through the cave entrance to get inside Mt. Coronet.

As soon as you get inside, go immediately south (down), and then when you reach two sets of stairs — one north and one south — take the bottom set. Use Surf to get across the body of water, and you’ll find the Dawn Stone in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

Alternatively, once you’ve beaten the game, head to the Survival Area, go left onto Route 225, and use Rock Climb to make your way up the first climbable area. A Dawn Stone is waiting for you at the top.

Now you’ll be able to evolve Kirlia into Gallade in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. For more handy evolution guides and tips to help you be the very best there ever was, be sure to head on over to our wiki or see more of our coverage on the game below.
