Need for Speed Heat places players in an open world in which they can meet other human racers. Yet, the developers opted to let you enjoy it completely offline if you so wish.
Today Twinfinite talked with the game’s Producer and Lead Designer and they explained that while you can play online and have other players in the same open world as you, you can also opt out of that, and play solo.
Being always online is not required and you can play completely offline.
That being said, having other players around can come in handy. The game has a heat system that represents how much trouble you have caused and determines how aggressive police vehicles will be in trying to take you down.
Every player in the world has their own heat level, and a really advantageous tactic is to find a player who has higher heat and a lot of the cops pursuing you will veer off and redirect their attention on that player.
This lets you both remove some of the cops on your own tail, and troll other players a bit if that’s your thing.
Stay Tuned on Twinfinite for the full interview, coming soon.
Need for Speed Heat will release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 8.
