While you’ll spend most of your time playing as Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel) in Marvel’s Avengers Game campaign, when you start diving into the Avengers Initiative, you’ll have far more freedom in the character you play as. Obviously, you’re going to want to be the best character in Marvel’s Avengers Game, so down below you’ll find our ranking of the characters from best to worst.
It’s worth pointing out a couple of things before we dive into the nitty gritty of the topic. First and foremost, each character in Marvel’s Avengers has their own advantages and disadvantages, which we’ve discussed below.
While Hulk is a tank that can deal out huge damage, he’s not all that mobile, for example. What’s important for you to do here, is determine which character’s pros and cons best suit your playstyle.
Best Marvel’s Avengers Characters, Ranked
6. Black Widow
As frantic and fast-paced as Black Widow is in melee combat, she just doesn’t have the abilities to make her a viable, strong option in a skirmish. While her cloaking ability can certainly be helpful when playing in multiplayer, it otherwise doesn’t feel all that effective.
Where Black Widow does shine is in her ability to quickly and effectively take out single units on their own. In 1v1’s ,Black Widow is one of the best characters in Marvel’s Avengers thanks to her grapple ability and fast-paced combat. Sadly, as you’re rarely taking on one enemy at a time in the game, she has to take last place this time around.
5. Captain America
Captain America is clearly a support character in the Marvel’s Avengers game, highlighted by his abilities. His charge power and protective abilities make him a great character for helping revive other characters in your team and providing temporary damage-enhancing buffs to teammates against nearby enemies.
Unfortunately, Cap falls short when it comes to fighting at range. His shield throw ability is awesome — obviously — but it’s slow and leaves him open to being overwhelmed by enemies rushing his position. To add to Cap’s woes, he doesn’t actually hit all that hard, so he’s not the best character in Marvel’s Avengers for those wanting to deal out damage and be in the thick of the action.
4. Iron Man
Iron Man’s a fairly good choice in Marvel’s Avengers, but there are still some better options ahead of him. Iron Man is best when taking on large amounts of enemies. He can fly around, using his Repulsor Cannons, Lasers or Rockets to pick off enemies from a distance. Even if he doesn’t actually finish them off himself, the damage dealt makes enemies easier to pick off for those heroes directly in the fray.
On top of that, Iron Man’s abilities are incredibly good if you play this aerial assault-style role. Arc Overloads allows him to use Intrinsic abilities for 10 seconds without draining his meter, and his Hulkbuster ultimate makes you an impenetrable wrecking ball that’ll make light work of any enemy you come across.
That being said, Iron Man is a little weak in general hand-to-hand combat. Even if his melee combat is fast, Iron Man can be quickly overwhelmed when fighting groups of enemies on the ground. As such, stick to the skies and you’ll find Iron Man’s right at home.
3. Thor
Thor is one of the most versatile characters you can choose in Marvel’s Avengers. Like Iron Man, he can take to the skies and deal damage from above by hurling Mjolnir at enemies, but he can also wield Mjolnir for hand-to-hand combat for devastating damage, too.
Add on top of that an arsenal of powerful abilities, such as conjuring lightning as a devastating AoE attack, and his Intrinsic ‘Odinforce’ ability which automatically counters incoming attacks and you’ve got someone who belongs in the heart of battle.
Don’t forget about his ultimate ability, Bifrost, which allows Thor to disappear, and then choose the point he returns. When he does, he deals a huge amount of damage to enemies caught in his path. It’s not only cool to look at, but incredibly handy for crowd control or dealing massive damage to a tricky boss.
2. Hulk
While Hulk may seem like the best character in Marvel’s Avengers, for us he narrowly misses out and takes second place.
Hulk is an absolute monster, with insane offensive capabilities (as you’d expect) and what feels like a never-ending HP gauge. This means you can run straight into the action and start (literally) hurling and slamming enemies into the ground.
His massive HP gauge works nicely with his Boneshaker ability, which Taunts enemies to focus on him instead of teammates. Combining this with his Thunderclap ability can wipe out huge numbers of enemies in a single move.
That being said, his slow mobility in general makes him a little less desirable than other characters who can be a lot quicker at getting around the battlefield to help out teammates. When it comes to ranged attacks, Hulk can hurl rubble, but it’s slow and doesn’t deal a lot of damage.
Even so, if you want to be right at the heart of the action, there are few characters who’ll hold their own quite like Hulk.
1. Ms. Marvel
Ms. Marvel is our pick for the best character in Marvel’s Avengers. She’s got great mobility thanks to her stretchy body allowing her to jump huge distances, and swing off tree branches and grab ledges that other characters may not be able to reach.
On top of that, Ms. Marvel is fast-paced in combat, boasts a Polymorph Intrinsic ability that allows her to automatically counter and evade basic attacks, while also increasing her own damage output. It can even be upgraded to unlock several powerful attacks.
When it comes to other abilities and skills, Ms. Marvel has the Healing Spirit ability, allowing her to heal herself and teammates in the nearby vicinity in a flash. In terms of range combat, Ms. Marvel has her Whip Fist attack so she can swat enemies down from a distance.
Finally, her Heroic ability, Embiggen, allows her to grow dramatically in size, bolstering her attack and defensive stats massively for the duration.
