Borderlands 3 may be a shooter, but there’s still a fair bit of platforming to be done if you want to find every treasure hidden throughout its world. That’s why we’re here to make sure you know how to jump with a guide.
How to Jump in Borderlands 3
As with most any other game, Borderlands 3 has a specific button that triggers jumping. On PlayStation 4, this button is the X button; meanwhile, on the Xbox One, it’s the A button.
A table with the controls can be found below:
PlayStation 4 | X Button |
Xbox One | A Button |
This remains true across every Vault Hunter offered as a playable character, and has about the same height and range across all characters as well. This means that once you’ve got a feel for how high and far a single jump takes you, you’ll be set for the remainder of the game.
When and Where to Jump
As for when you should jump in Borderlands 3, it varies based on the situation.
On one hand, jumping can be useful for repositioning yourself in a tense firefight. By jumping around, you can throw off your enemy’s line of sight and prevent yourself from getting hit, delaying your death or even avoiding it altogether.
Jumping can also be used to access areas not reachable by normal means. As mentioned earlier, there are treasures hidden throughout the nook and crannies of Pandora, and a fair few of them can only be reached by making a leap toward an opening into a blocked off area.
It is worth noting, though, that jumping at the wrong moment can be costly. If an enemy can track you with their fire, or if jumping toward a platform or opening could result in your death, it’s worth taking time to assess the risk and time it properly.
It sounds obvious, but doing so will save you a ton of headaches and backtracking in the long-run.
That should cover everything you’ll need to know about how to jump in Borderlands 3. For more on the game, check out our extensive wiki guide and some other guides that you might be interested in:
