If you’ve got any hope of surviving the thousands of zombies that plague your territory in State of Decay 2, you’re going to need to get some serious firepower on your side. While melee weapons like machetes and wrenches will certainly help keep your survivors from meeting an untimely end, they’re not the very best weapons that State of Decay 2 has to offer. To give you a helping hand, we’ve run through the five best weapons to use in State of Decay 2 (and maybe a bonus entry, too). So without further ado, let’s dive in.

M99X1 Timberwolf

Top 5 Best Weapons to Use in State of Decay 2

The M99X1 is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best weapons in State of Decay 2. While some players immediately want an assault rifle capable of tearing through groups of zombies, the M99X1 is more of a gentleman’s weapon. A bolt-action rifle that just so happens to be perfect for making one big mess of a Juggernaut’s face.

Not only is it unbreakable and will never jam on you, meaning you’ve got a reliable weapon ready to get you out of a tight spot at any time, but its power, accuracy, and range are through the roof. If you can get enough rounds for it, you’ll be able to tear through even the toughest of State of Decay 2’s enemies with ease with this.

BML-40

Top 5 Best Weapons to Use in State of Decay 2

There aren’t all that many weapons in State of Decay 2 that can make things go boom, but fortunately, the BML-40 is one that can. This grenade launcher, as you might expect, is perfect for crowd control, especially if you find yourself surrounded or getting overwhelmed when taking out a Plague Heart.

As you might expect, the BML-40’s power and accuracy stats are off the charts, though its range and fire rate do leave a little to be desired, so don’t expect to start spraying out grenades like nobody’s business. Take time aiming your shots and you’ll wipe the zombie hordes out in no time. It’s also great combined with a decoy item that zombies would flock to, just as a heads up!

SP101 Tassie Devil

Top 5 Best Weapons to Use in State of Decay 2

While there will likely be plenty of scenarios you find yourself in dire need of the BML-40’s explosive power, other times, you’re going to want something small and subtle, but equally devastating. Something like the SP101 Tassie Devil, an unbreakable, never-jamming, revolver with a frightening fire rate.

While the Tassie Devil’s near-max fire rate is what makes it so useful at close-mid range for taking out encroaching zombies, its high accuracy stat also makes it incredibly easy to nail those one-hit-kill headshots. Just be warned, though, all of this comes at the cost of being one of the loudest guns in the game.

DEVGRU X12 Infiltrator

Top 5 Best Weapons to Use in State of Decay 2

While many of these weapons might sound great, are any of them quite as legendary as the DEVGRU X12 Infiltrator? A shotgun with a massive 30 shell capacity, the DEVGRU X12 has a maxed out power stat, fairly high control and accuracy stats, and an alright durability, too.

While this is one of the best weapons in State of Decay 2, this is one that isn’t completely unbreakable. Use it enough and it will degrade over time, but just keep some parts spare for when this happens. Trust us, the parts spent repairing the DEVGRU X12 is more than worth its capabilities at close-range.

M4X1 DMR Heavy

Top 5 Best Weapons to Use in State of Decay 2

Would it be a list of best weapons if the M4 wasn’t included? Whether you want to pick off a Bloater from a distance with a single headshot, or you need to mow down a horde of zombies sprinting towards you, the M4 is probably the gun you’re going to want to opt for.

With a single shot mode, you can easily pick off targets from a distance, while its full-auto mode is perfect for spraying and praying to get out of a tight spot.

Though the M4 isn’t completely unbreakable like some of the other best weapons in State of Decay 2, it’s well worth the maintenance cost of some spare parts every now and then. Plus, if you manage to get your hands on a suppressor of some sort, you’ve basically got a silent killing machine at any range, so that’s something.

Bonus Entry: Monogear Axe

Top 5 Best Weapons to Use in State of Decay 2

We’re adding this one as a little bit of a bonus entry, but just hear us out. While every other weapon on this list is certainly capable of dealing far more damage than the Monogear Axe, it’s actually its relative silence and speed that makes it one of the best weapons in State of Decay 2.

Yes, this is a melee weapon, and so don’t expect to be taking out five zombies at once or anything insane with just one swing of this. For those unaware, the Monogear Axe is essentially a bicycle chainset that’s been transformed into a tool of zombie-killing fun. Its impact stat may look a little low, and yes, you will have to repair this every once in a while as its duration isn’t perfect, but as far as melee weapons go in State of Decay 2, they don’t get too much better than this. Besides, you’re not going to go out with just five firearms, are you?

That’s all you need to know about the best weapons in State of Decay 2. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
