The quests related to the Lighthouse Lady in Nier Replicant are some of the most interesting in the game; less because there are huge battles to fight, and more so because it forces you to make interesting choices. For instance, after being enlisted to track down a rare gem she inherited, it’ll be up to you to decide what to do with the Mermaid Tear in Nier Replicant.
As cool as this may sound though, you wouldn’t be blamed for being afraid of missing out on the best reward for the quest. That’s why we’ve created this guide, detailing exactly what you get out of each decision. Now then, let’s dig in.
What to Do With the Mermaid Tear in Nier Replicant
Upon finding the Mermaid Tear in Nier Replicant, you’ll be faced with three options for what you’ll do with it. You can choose to give it to the woman who hired you to find it, bury it with the Lighthouse Lady, or keep it for yourself and sell it.
The first option will net you 10,000 gold as a reward from the woman who hired you. You’ll also find out that she’s the descendant of the man who originally sent it to the Lighthouse Lady, and she’ll be thrilled that her family has the heirloom back.
The second option, meanwhile, won’t net you any monetary reward. The woman who hired you will be sad that she couldn’t get the stone back. At the same time though, Nier and the Seafront postman will gain a sense of closure regarding the Lighthouse Lady’s death, having ensured she has proof of her lover’s devotion even in death.
As for the third option, it’s about what you’d expect. The woman who hired you will be upset the stone couldn’t be returned to her, and the Postman won’t gain any closure. You can then sell the gem to any merchant for 10,000 gold.
The choice you should make really depends on whether you’d like to gain some funds and how you’d like the Lighthouse Lady’s story to end. If you want a happy ending and a reward, choose the first option. For a happy ending without a monetary reward, choose the second option. For a sad ending that rewards you with gold, choose the third option.
