A new Fortnite season means that the map has gone through some changes. This time around there are eight new or updated locations in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 and we’re going to take you through all of them.
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 Map
Before we get started, here is the map you will see when you have seen everything in the new season:
New Locations
Command Cavern
Command Cavern is taking the place of Covert Cavern and the place has definitely been built up. One of thing of note within this location are rocket turrets that are useable by the player just in the base, not just as part of the airship. There are still IO guards on patrol in this area, so players dropping in need to be aware of that. It is still not the best idea to hot drop into the cavern itself immediately as you will have to contend with IO forces as well as other players. It’s best to roll in after you have gear you are comfortable with using.
The Fortress
This is a new area off to the south-east of Command Cavern. Players can still expect to find a massive mole team drill, as well as the NPC Slone. Once again, this area is crawling with IO and running into the drill without a good loadout will most certainly end in you getting cornered and killed.
The Daily Bugle
Surprisingly, the Daily Bugle location still exists, though, as you may have guessed, it has been taken over by IO forces. Overlooking the area is another IO airship that you can land on and enter, but once again be on the look out for IO patrols. There are still Spider-Man webs all over the location to use as jumping points.
Coney Crossroads
Coney Crossroads is mostly the same as it was before, except for the overhead IO airship. These seem to be common across all the map areas located inside the red lines on the map.
Tilted Towers
Tilted Towers remains mostly unchanged except for the airship above. However, this makes Tilted Towers much more deadly because of the turrets on the outside of the airship and the prime sniping spots from the top.
Rocky Reels
Once again, largely unchanged except for the expected airship. The desert region has more cover to it with the large towering rocks and canyons though, so there’s not as much concern about sightlines.
Condo Canyon
Largely unchanged except for, you guessed it, the airship. However, the position of the airship gives it some crazy sightlines to just about the whole area. If the circle ends here, you can just about guarantee someone will be on one of the turrets laying waste to any hiding places.
Synapse Station
Synapse Station is where the Foundation and allies have retreated as just about all the rest of the map is under IO control. This is a good landing spot for players who want the chance to gear up a bit without being immediately set upon by IO forces. No airship to worry about means safety from unexpected sniper and turret fire.
POIs
Outpost Epsilon
Nestled halfway between Tilted Towers and Sanctuary is a tall metal tower similar to the old wooden lookout towers from seasons past. This tower provides some great cover and once at the top you can get a useful survey of the surrounding area. You’ll have to visit these anyway when retrieving IO envelopes in the Rebuilding questline.
Outpost Raven
Very similar to the above in terms of what you can expect, Outpost Raven is located north of Condo Canyon in the burned area filled with blast craters. This is also an important area for collecting IO envelopes.
