Shenmue 3 is finally here and it continues the fascinating tale of Ryo Hazuki, a teenage martial artist who has journeyed from Yokosuka, Japan, to the mountains of Guilin, China, in search of his father’s killer, Lan Di. The story is brought to life by some excellent voice acting talent and so here we’re going to celebrate that by introducing you to the voice cast.
Corey Marshall – Ryo Hazuki
American actor who has played Ryo throughout the Shenmue series. Notably, he’s actually an accomplished martial artist himself, having practiced Tae Kwon Do as a child and competed in several competitions. Marshall has performed in many TV mini-series and dramas, but he hasn’t had many acting credits over the past few years outside of Shenmue 3.
Brianna Knickerbocker – Ling Shenhua
Brianna Knickerbocker draws on her experience working across television and videos game to bring Shenmue 3’s Ling Shenhua to life. She’s performed several notable roles across well-known franchises, including Astral Chain (Akira Howard), Pokemon Masters (Roxie), and Catherine: Full Body (Rin). Voice over work for popular television series includes the role of Erica in Beserk.
Kyle McCarley – Lan Di
Shenmue 3’s antagonist Lan Di is played by Kyle McCarley, an American voice actor with a wealth of experience in the video game industry. You may recognize his voice from performances like 9s (Nier: Automata), Jack (Daemon X Machina), and Hyde Kido (BlazBlue Cross Battle). McCarley clearly has a passion for Japanese productions, having starred in several notable anime series, too, including One Punch Man, Mob Pyscho 100, and Ultraman.
Greg Chun – Ren Wuying
Los Angeles based actor Greg Chun also has extensive experience voicing video games. He, too, seems to have an interest in Japanese productions, in particular, having played roles like Jack Rutherford (Code Vein), Deva (Daemon X Machina), Takayuki Yagami (Judgement), and Adam (Nier: Automata). Chun has also acted in several TV series, including One Punch Man, and Kingdom.
Lucien Dodge – Chan
The nefarious Chan is played by Lucien Dodge, another American actor who has starred in video game franchises mentioned above. Other recent performances include minor roles in games like Days Gone, Rage 2, and Left Alive. Back in 2012 he played Waver Velvet in the anime Fate/Zero, and Takumu Mayuzumi in Acel World in the same year.
Zehra Fazal – Niao Sun
Lan Di’s sexy henchwoman Niao Sun is played by Zehra Fazel, an American actor who has worked in film, television, and video games. Recent video game performances include minor roles in Indivisible, Destiny 2, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Ousa). You may also recognize her voice as the AI Announcer in Apex Legends, while her face may be familiar from How to Get Away With Murder, in which she played a reporter.
