The fish and bugs you can catch in Animal Crossing New Horizons are now a little different with July rolling around. The set of bugs that you’ll find are now similar to those you’ll find during the summer months in the real world. So that you can get a step closer to filling Blathers’ museum, here’s everything you need to know about the Horned Elephant in Animal Crossing New Horizons, including where to find it and how much it sells for.
Horned Elephant Spawn Times & Location in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Before it’ll even spawn, you need to have caught 100 bugs during your time playing New Horizons. If you’ve been playing since launch, you’ve probably already done it.
The Horned Elephant isn’t very common and might be quite tough to spot because of where it hides. You will only be able to find the Horned Elephant during the following months for each hemisphere.
- Northern Hemisphere: July – August
- Southern Hemisphere: January – February
During these months, the Horned Elephant can only be caught between 5 pm and 8 am, so you’ll have to do some evening or nighttime bug hunting in Animal Crossing New Horizons to get it.
How to Catch
Unlike a lot of bugs that you’ll just find wandering around the island, the Horned Elephant will only spawn on palm trees. You’ll might already have some, but if not you’ll have to bury a coconut in a hole on your beach to get one to grow. Once you have done so, head to one at the right time and should see the bug there.
Get your net out and hold A to sneak towards the bug, letting go when next to it to grab it. If you’ve done it at the right time, your little character will show it off before putting it away.
Horned Elephant Sell Price
Once you’ve caught one and if you don’t want to donate it to Blathers so that he can show off in his museum, you can sell it to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny for 8000 bells. If Flick visits your island though, you can sell it to him for 50% more, netting you 12,000 bells.
