How to Do Finishers in Apex Legends & How to Change Finisher

Apex Legends has brought its take on the battle royale genre to the table, offering up characters with unique abilities, very much like Overwatch’s Heroes. Each character also has a number of Finishers they can do, so chances are you want to know how. Here’s how to do Finishers in Apex Legends and how to change finisher.

How to Do a Finisher in Apex Legends

  • PS4: Square
  • Xbox One: X
  • PC: E

First things first, let’s run you through how to actually perform one of these bad-ass moves in Apex Legends. Simply put, you’ll need to down an enemy so they’re down on their knees. Once they are, head over to them and press Square on PS4, X on Xbox One, and E on PC to perform a finisher.

Upon pressing these inputs, you’ll be treated to a slick animation showing your character putting a stylish end to your opponent. This will completely eliminate a target from the game, but it’s worth noting Finishers do leave you pretty vulnerable to other players nearby.

The Finisher animation takes a fairly long time to complete, and during that time you’re just a sitting duck waiting to be popped off by another opponent nearby. As such, you’ll likely only want to do these in Apex Legends once you’ve got some teammates around you, or you’re absolutely certain no other enemies are around.

As we previously mentioned, Apex Legends actually has a number of different animations for each of its characters’ finishing moves. Let’s run you through how to do that.

How to Change Finisher Animations

Finisher animations will need to be unlocked in Apex Legends. Each ‘Legend’ will have a default Finisher you can use from the start, but almost all of them (sorry Bangalore, you’re the exception here), have another two you can get.

These animations can either be unlocked by spending your hard-earned Crafting Metals, or by unlocking them as part of an Apex Pack. Sadly, we’ve yet to earn one via an Apex Pack, but as every cosmetic in the game can drop from one, these animations are no different.

To spend Crafting Metals buying one of these new animations, head to the ‘Legends’ tab, select the character, and tab over to their Finisher list. Now, select the animation you want to purchase, and press Square on PS4 or X on Xbox One to choose the option to ‘Unlock’ it. You’ll need to spend 1,200 Crafting Metals in order to purchase it.

Once you’ve unlocked another of these animations, you’ll want to head to the ‘Legends’ tab (if you’re not already there). From here, select the character you’ve unlocked the Finisher for, and then use R1/ RB to tab over to the Finisher tab. Now, simply press X on PS4 or A on Xbox One to select it, and press Square or X to confirm you want to equip it.

That’s all you need to know on how to do a Finisher and change Finisher animations in Apex Legends. For more tips, tricks, and guides on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite, or check out our most popular guides down below.
