Like other entries in the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Rise is about more than slashing wildly at massive beasts. Some will require you to chase after them as fast as possible, or flee with gusto should they prove too strong. As such, you’ll need to know how to sprint and run faster in Monster Hunter Rise sooner rather than later.
That’s why we’ve put together this guide to get you up to speed on these vital mechanics. By its end, you’ll know their controls inside and out, and will know exactly when the best times to break into a sprint are.
How to Sprint and Run Faster in Monster Hunter Rise
As with past games in the series, sprinting and running faster is super easy to do.
Simply press and hold down the R button. This will see your character move much faster than if you were to walk around at their standard speed in exchange for some stamina. You can run at any point in the game so long as you have stamina to burn and your character is upright.
When You Should Run and Sprint
With that said though, there are some times that are better than others to run and sprint in Monster Hunter Rise.
Because running depletes stamina, it’s always wise to be conservative with running during fights. This means you should avoid running if your stamina is low, or if you’re in a situation where you’ll need to dodge or dash repeatedly.
This will ensure you don’t deplete your stamina before making a full escape, leaving you vulnerable to an attack.
However, if you’re exploring the overworld and won’t have to worry about monster attacks, then you can run without any concern.
That’s all there is to know about how to run in Monster Hunter Rise. For more on the game, check out our guide wiki. It has helpful articles on topics like which monsters appear in the title.
