Your Tamer and Partners Level Up Differently
One thing about Digimon World: Next Order is that you’re in charge of two completely different parties when it comes to your adventure. There’s the Tamer, which is your player character that you choose when the game starts, then there are your Partners, which are the two Digimon you take with you on your quest. They each require different things to level up.
The Tamer has many more options when it comes to getting experience, but the Partners not so much. When playing, make sure to take time out specifically for your Digimon or else you’ll find yourself fighting an uphill battle against the tougher monsters you face while branching out. You never really have to worry too much about the Tamer, so it’s important not to forget this.
Keep in Mind Needs
Tamers have it easy in Digimon World: Next Order since just about every action contributes EXP. Winning battles is one sure fire way to earn experience, but you don’t earn much early on, and you’ll have to fight way too much before finally making some headway. There’s also the act of completing objectives, whether they be side (blue exclamation points) or main (gold exclamation points).
However, you can rack up quite a bit on the side simply by attending to your partners’ needs in Digimon World: Next Order. As you play, your Digimon will grow hungry, tired, need to use the bathroom, become unruly, or seek praise. If you take care of these needs within a reasonable time you’ll actually earn experience (even if it doesn’t say so on your screen). Your Digimon’s progress and happiness directly contributes to your level as a Tamer. And increasing that level allows you to unlock skills that will make your time even easier.
Battling Doesn’t Provide the Most EXP
Your Digimon don’t gain EXP in the same way that your Tamer does in Digimon World: Next Order. Instead, as they fight, they earn points towards each of their stats which is applied instantly. The problem is that you won’t actually get much from this process, at least not early on. You get more when you fight Digimon that are stronger than you, sure, but that puts you at serious risk for injury or even getting knocked unconscious (which is not a good thing).
Do not rely on grinding enemies to level up. You’ll just spend hours on hard work with very little payoff. They’re useful for obtaining money and items, though.
Training is Key
Training is where you’ll really see your Digimon level up in Digimon World: Next Order. You’ll be able to choose which stats to focus on for each of your partners and you’ll even have the chance to earn bonuses.
One thing that really helps is feeding your partners vegetables before training as these add specific bonuses to certain areas of training. While they are somewhat rare to find out in the wild, you can get one everyday by recruiting Togemon from the Server Desert. You can get him pretty early on and he’ll meet you in the training gym at noon each day.
You can quickly get some Digivolutions here, just make sure to still take care of your partners’ needs. They’ll happen more frequently here due to the constant action.
