How to Heal in Dead Cells

Combat is arguably Dead Cells’ greatest strength. It’s fast-paced, challenging, satisfying, and perfectly compliments the game’s melding of roguelike and Metroidvania elements. Since the enemies often put up quite a fight, you’ll probably want to give yourself the best chance of getting to the next area by knowing how to heal. Well, here’s everything you need to know.

Thankfully, there are a few different ways to heal in Dead Cells. The main one is the Health Flask, which refills your health to about three-quarters full when used. When you start the game, you won’t have access to any, but you can unlock them, using the cells you collect, between areas. There are four levels to unlock, each being significantly more expensive, but you can refill them between areas.

The second most reliable way to heal in Dead Cells is to look out for food items that are dropped by defeated enemies. They usually only heal you by 15% (occasionally 50%) but they’re useful for a little boost in tough areas. They’ll drop randomly, so just keep an eye out for them.

The third and final way to heal in Dead Cells is via Mutations, Upgrades, and Weapon Skills that you choose as you play. There are Survival Mutations available between areas that let you either increase your overall health by 30%, giving you a little boost in the meantime, or that grant you 3HP for every enemy you kill. Also, when you find upgrade items as you’re playing, most will grant you an extension to your overall HP, while many of the Survival ones will give the ability to get three or four HP back for every enemy you kill. Finally, there are weapon skills, and even powers that equip as weapons, that grant things like 5HP for every time you hit an enemy for a short period of time. Check the description of the weapon you’re using to see if you’re getting something that will heal you as you play.

That’s all you need to know about how to heal in Dead Cells. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
