When to Promote Units in Fire Emblem Echoes

You can promote each of your characters in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia into a stronger class, gaining stat boosts and new abilities along the way. Unit promotion does, however, work a little differently than in previous titles.

You won’t be able to do this to your units, however, until they’ve reached a certain level in Fire Emblem Echoes, which differs depending on class. For example, a Lancer can promote to a Knight starting at level 8, while Mages won’t be able to until level 12. Just keep training up your units and they’ll eventually reach that threshold, until they’ve reached the final class of course. Once you do have a unit hit the required level, it’s usually a good idea to have them gain at least a couple more levels, just to maximize their stats and make them stronger.

When you want to promote a unit you’ll need to head over to a Mila Shrine. These can be found in every dungeon in the game, as well as a couple other areas. Just head to the shrine and select the promote option, and you’ll have a shiny new class to use.
