How to Beat Judge Ghis in Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age pits you against the overwhelming might of the Archadean Empire. At the head of the empire resides the Judge Magisters, powerful enemies that uphold the law of Archadia. The first Judge that you’ll face off against is Judge Ghis, who you’ll encounter aboard the Dreadnought Leviathan. Luckily, you’ll have Vossler along for the fight, adding on a little bit of firepower to your party.
Judge Ghis can be a challenging fight this early in The Zodiac Age, especially considering he’s flanked by numerous Imperial Swordsmen. Before the battle make sure you have a healer with Gambits set up to automatically use potions or Cure as soon as one of your allies’s health gets below a certain level, probably around 50 percent would be best. You’ll also want to set up your party correctly, put ranged weapons on healers so they stay at a distance, and have one tank with heavy armor that can soak up damage along with Vossler.
As soon as the battle begins, cast Protect on your party for an added defense. Now what you’ll want to do is focus on hitting all or multiple enemies at once. Try and group the Imperial Swordsmen together to take them out quickly. A good way to do this is to use Decoy under Green Magic on your Knight/tank character or on Vossler, then unload powerful magic like Dark on the area. If you have access to Quickenings, definitely use them here and get the largest chain possible.
If you can group all of the enemies and Ghis together during a Quickening you’ll likely almost take out all of the swordsmen and cause significant damage to the boss. Just keep Protect on your characters and healing up, and you should vanquish the first Judge Magister of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age in no time.
