The holiday season is almost upon us, which means it’s time to grab that wallet and start thinking of gifts to get for your loved ones. If you’ve got a friend, family member, or significant other who’s really into Final Fantasy XIV, this FFXIV holiday gift guide should provide you with a few ideas on what to get them this year.
Game Time Card
The first, and most obvious, choice here is to get them a Game Time card. FFXIV’s monthly subscription fee isn’t all that pricey, but assuming that you stay subscribed even during the months you’re not actually playing the game, all that money can add up pretty quickly.
It’s a small gesture, but getting an FFXIV a Game Time card can really ease their financial burden a little. Paying for their subscription for two months is nothing to scoff at, and it’ll definitely incentivize them to play the game a little more diligently and regularly during that time period.
Encyclopaedia Eorzea
If your friend doesn’t already have this, can they really consider themselves a true FFXIV fan?
All jokes aside, the Encyclopaedia Eorzea really is a fantastic gift idea for any fan of the game. It features 300 full color pages detailing character lore, world history, and it contains so much information about Eorzea that you might not even have known just from playing the game.
It was lovingly put together by key members of the development team as well, and it’s just a great item to have if you can’t get enough of Eorzea outside of the game itself.
The Shadowbringers Soundtrack
Not only is Shadowbringers the best expansion for FFXIV to date, it also features possibly the strongest soundtrack the series has ever seen.
It’s a huge collection of music, featuring tracks from the final post-Stormblood patches, along with the full suite of new music from the Shadowbringers expansion itself.
Composed by Masayoshi Soken, the soundtrack of Shadowbringers is incredibly diverse, and just full of provocative and memorable tracks that will stick with you long after you finish the story. It also comes with a Blu-ray disc that lets you enjoy the music while viewing key scenes and images from the story.
FFXIV Plush Toys and Merchandise
For something a little more simple, the Square Enix Store features tons of cute plush toys and merchandise that FFXIV fans are sure to love as well.
You’ve got Alpha –the adorable Chocobo from Stormblood’s Omega raid series– along with the delivery Moogle, Emerald and Topaz Carbuncle, and even a Fat Chocobo blanket for the cold nights to come.
Outside of that, there are also pouches and cushions based off of the game’s cute mascots. The Apparel section on the Store also features some cool Heavensward t-shirts, though it’s a little disappointing that there’s still no Shadowbringers-themed stuff out quite yet.
NieR: Automata
Okay so I know this is a bit of a weird one, but hear me out. Right now, the FFXIV community is still pretty obsessed with the brand new Copied Factory raid that just dropped in FFXIV, and there’s tons of gear and a new glamour set to grind.
But you know what the crazy thing is? A good chunk of the FFXIV community hasn’t actually checked out NieR: Automata yet, the very game that the new raid is themed around. And, well, that’s just a damn shame.
NieR: Automata’s a great game in its own right, and considering how opaque and confusing the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse story setup has been in FFXIV so far, Automata will certainly provide players with some clarity about that game’s lore and world. And hey, it might even allow FFXIV players to appreciate the Copied Factory raid a little more as well.
