As you progress through The Outer Worlds’ adventure, you’ll come across increasingly more difficulty enemies. That’s why you’ll always want to make sure you’re taking advantage of various different ways to earn XP and make your character even stronger. Here’s how to level up fast in Outer Worlds.

How to Level Up Fast in Outer Worlds

There are a ton of different ways to earn XP in Outer Worlds which will help you to level up, but there are a particular few that you’ll want to prioritize that’ll help you to level up fast and reach the max level cap. These are:

Completing Main Quests

By far the biggest rewarder of XP, main quests are also what are most likely to be the reason you need to level up. Still, if you’ve got main quests to do and just want to level up your character, make these your main focus.

Every main quest you complete rewards a ridiculous amount of XP that’s normally enough to level you up at least once on its own and then some.

Completing Side Quests

Second to main quests are the side quests. Outer Worlds’ various planets have a bunch of side quests you can complete, as do your companions, and you’ll want to make sure you’re completing these for that extra XP boost to help you level up fast in Outer Worlds.

Seriously, side quests can often reward almost as much — if not the same — XP as main quests, and don’t tend to take anywhere near to complete.

Killing Enemies

Whether you’re just exploring a planet or embarking on a quest in Outer Worlds, you’re bound to run into some enemies fairly quickly. These hostile creatures, Marauders, or robots also happen to be a great source of XP in Outer Worlds, making combat an incredibly worthwhile thing getting to grips with.

Simply killing enemies earns experience, and considering most quests you’ll come across in Outer Worlds have a bunch of them you’ll need to put down along the way, it really helps to buff the ‘quest complete’ XP you’ll earn at the very end of your little mission.

If you simply kill anything hostile that you come across, you’ll start to noticeably level up faster.

Companion Kills

If you’ve got a companion by your side, every kill that they get will also net you XP. They’ll have their own loadout of armor and weapons, but you might want to take the time to improve their gear as you progress through the game to make them even more deadly, and thus help you level up faster.

Deadly Demonstrator Perk

To bolster your companions’ contributions to your XP and leveling efforts, make sure you get the ‘Deadly Demonstrator’ perk as soon as you can. This will grant 50% additional XP earned for every kill that your companion gets, and that racks up pretty quickly.

Hacking and Lockpicking

Finally, while you’ll need Bypass Shunts and Mag-Locks to hack terminals and lockpick doors and safes respectively, they’re a great source of experience if you’ve got a high enough skill level and the required materials.

Plus, as an added bonus, they tend to lead to valuable resources or powerful gear, so it’s well worth doing this anyway if you’re willing to potentially part with the Shunts or Mag-Locks.

What the Max Level Cap Is in Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds’ max level cap is level 30. You’ll be able to earn XP and level up your character, speccing them out as you see fit up until this point. Once you reach level 30, you will not be able to level them up any further.
