Get All of the Heart Pieces
There is a ton of heart pieces in Link’s Awakening and you won’t always have access to the ones you find in the beginning segments of the game, so you need to go back to specific areas with end game items in order to actually acquire them.
Thankfully, you can mark suspicious locations with waypoints of sorts on your map to get back to them later, making it easy to keep track of the hearts.
Getting to 20 full hearts will take a little bit of extra time after beating the game, but if you want to make Link as strong as he can be, this is necessary.
Get the Secret Seashells and the Seashell Sword
Being an untraditional Zelda title, there is indeed no Master Sword in the game, but there is a different sword that you can get that is almost as powerful and it’s called the Seashell Sword.
If you’ve noticed, there are dozens of seashells hidden throughout the island for you to find and they can be brought back to the seashell mansion where you can trade them in for pieces of heart and other goodies.
You don’t have to collect all of the shells to get this fancy sword, but you will need to collect most of them in the game.
Once you get a certain number though, you will be rewarded with a seashell tracker that can help you find the missing ones later in the game.
Find the Color Dungeon
There are eight main quest dungeons in Link’s Awakening, but there is one more secret dungeon to find that was included in the GBC version of Link’s Awakening and that is the Color Dungeon.
If you have the Pegasus Boots already, go to the library in Mabe Village and then charge towards the wall to make the book fall on the floor. The book will have directions and these directions are how you are going to enter the dungeon.
Now, go to the southeast corner of the graveyard and push the tombstones in order, following the directions from the library book.
You’ll then be granted access to the ninth and final dungeon in the game and you’ll be rewarded with a tunic that grants extra attack or one that grants extra defense.
Collect All of the Figures in Mabe Village
There is a couple of stands in the village folks’ houses in Mabe Village where you can place certain items, items that all come from the Mario universe such as a Boo, a Cheep-Cheep, and a Chain Chomp.
It seems that a majority, if not all, of the items can be won at Trendy Game by spending a couple of rupees. By winning these figurines, you can spruce up the town a little bit by placing the items onto their respective pedestals.
Get the Boomerang
The last item that is part of the long trading sequence that is in Link’s Awakening involves the magnifying lens and the boomerang.
When you finally have your hands on the magnifying lens, head on over to that mysterious cave on Toronbo Shores and you will now be able to see Goriya, who gives you the boomerang in exchange for one of your items.
Yes, you have to give him one of your important weapons such as the Bow and Arrow or the hookshot, but don’t worry, you can immediately talk to him again and he will see you your item back for 300 rupees.
The boomerang is one of the best items in the game and it’ll be fun to use while you’re exploring Koholint Island.
Create Some Dungeons
The dungeon creator in Link’s Awakening doesn’t come close to the variety of creation tools found in a game such as Mario Maker but it’s a handy tool that allows you to arrange your own dungeons by using pre-set chamber stones.
You find more and more of these slabs throughout the story and then you can take them back to Dampe’s shack to have a little bit of fun.
You can only share these with other players via amiibo so there aren’t any online components to it, but it’s still a nice addition to this remake.
That does it for our list on 6 things to do after beating Link’s Awakening. For more on the game, be sure to check out our scored review and our wiki guide on the game as well.
