How to Unlock & Use the Grappling Hook in Far Cry New Dawn
Grappling hooks are all the rage in actions games nowadays, as they can be used for traversal and fighting alike. As one of the first series to implement this item consistently, using it to help climb up cliffs quicker, it is no surprise that Ubisoft is bringing back the climbing gear in Far Cry New Dawn.
In order to unlock this useful gear, you’re going to have to go through a few steps first. Thankfully we have come fully prepared for a nuclear apocalypse.
Here is everything you need to know about how to unlock and use the grappling hook in Far Cry New Dawn.
How to Unlock the Grappling Hook
As with previous games in the series, Far Cry New Dawn once again features attribute points. These can be earned by earning experience.
After earning enough experiences, and thus skill points, you can invest them in specific perks that unlock new abilities. One such ability is called the Grapple perk.
In order to unlock the grappling hook, you must acquire the Grapple perk. Depending on how you invest your points, you can get this perk pretty quickly, as it will only cost three perk points.
Once you have enough points to get it, hover over the perk and purchase it. You can do this by bringing up the menu with the touch pad or View button, and heading over to the Perks tab.
How to Use the Grapple Hook
Now that you’ve got the Grapple perk, it is important to note that it can only be used in specific places known as grapple spots. These areas are pretty easy to spot, as they have plenty of grappling rope spread around large rocks or wood that would otherwise be unclimbable.
Once you are near a grapple spot, it’ll prompt you to use your hook. Once you get this notification, simply hold down Square (PS4) or X (Xbox One) to throw the grappling hook.
Now that you are attached, all you have to do is hold R2 or L2 (PS4) or RT or LT (Xbox One) to climb up or down the rope. You’ll automatically climb up or get off the rope whenever you reach the bottom or top of it.
Alternatively, you can also manually get off the rope. To do so, press X (PS4) or A (Xbox One) to jump from the rope, and Circle (PS4) or B (Xbox One) to detach.
That is everything you need to know about how to unlock and use the grappling hook in Far Cry New Dawn. For more info, be sure to check out our ever-growing Far Cry New Dawn guides wiki or search for Twinfinite.
