How to Burn Branches in God of War
As you make your way through the massive world of Midgard and the surrounding realms in God of War, you will occasionally see black branches obstructing your way or covering a chest. If you’re wondering if there’s a way to get rid of these branches, the answer is yes. However, you’ll need to play through the main story missions before that solution is presented to you.
Be warned that we’re about to spoil a rather major reveal that takes place halfway through God of War. If you don’t wish to know about it, look away now, and rest assured that you’ll find a way to burn them by progressing through the story. If not, read on.
Once you’re about midway through God of War’s main story, Kratos will go back home to dig up his past. And yes, that means he’s going to bring out his classic weapon, the Blades of Chaos. The iconic dual daggers are imbued with fire, and this will allow him to cut through and burn branches easily. All you have to do is hit the R1 or R2 buttons on PlayStation or right click or left click on PC to attack the branches. Hit them enough, and they’ll eventually catch fire and burn away.
There are tons of hidden chests and pathways being blocked by these branches in God of War, so once you get the Blades of Chaos, take some time to backtrack and find any that you may have encountered along the way.
