Best Skills to Get in Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has a number of different ways you can play the game. Thanks to a broad skill tree, Lara can either approach situations aggressively or attempt to get through quietly. There are also plenty of complementary skills that are necessary for buying, gathering, and unlocking tools and traits vital to improving those skills.

Unlike its PS4 counterpart, the Uncharted Series, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and the Tomb Raider series as a whole, tends to work best when Lara Croft does her work from the shadows. In order to successfully do so, you’ll need to blend a few skills from each path, mixing Seeker, Scavenger, and Warrior traits. Below are a few of the best skills in Shadow of the Tomb Raider:

Best Skills to Get in Shadow of the Tomb Raider

  • Eagle’s Site – Reveal Artifacts, Monoliths, Treasure Chests, Archivist Maps, and Explorer Backpacks while using Survival Instincts. (Seeker)
  • Serpent’s Strike – Perform a Stealth Kill Takedown without alerting nearby enemies. (Scavenger)
  • Serpent’s Fury – Kill a second enemy during a Stealth Takedown to perform a Chained Takedown. (Scavenger)
  • Puma’s Brace – Resist damage from enemies for a short period of time after healing wounds in combat. (Warrior)
  • Jaguar’s Fury – Resist damage from enemies for a short period after performing a Stealth Takedown. (Warrior)
  • Owl’s Vision – Survival Instincts last for a longer period after Lara starts to move. Highlights enemies, resources, and objects in “One With the Jungle” difficulty. (Seeker)
  • Kinich Ahau’s Boon – Health is instantly restored once, when near death in battle. Refreshes between encounters. (Warrior)

Investing in these skills not only makes taking down enemies easier, especially when chaining together takedowns with Serpent’s Strike and Serpent’s Fury, but is also makes gameplay far more efficient. Upgrading Eagle’s Site and Owl’s Vision works in tandem with the takedown skills, as one identifies them and the other allows you to execute them without setting off alarms. This means Lara will have fewer enemies to deal with. Even if you do alert the guards, Warrior skills like Puma’s Brace and Jaguar’s Fury will allow you to resist damage for a short time period. These Seeker perks also come with the added benefit of highlighting valuable materials and resources, ones that Lara will need to upgrade and buy materials from vendors.

While skill upgrades are vital in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, be sure to upgrade your most important weapon as well, the bow and arrow. Bow and arrow kills are not only quieter than guns, they also allow you to retrieve your bow after you shoot it, meaning you’ll almost never run out of ammo. This will save you a considerable amount of currency as well, since you won’t have to keep restocking each different gun with their respective bullets. Once you have enough money, materials, and points, be sure to upgrade to the Recurve Bow.

Those are the best skills you can get in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Do you have a differnt set of skills you invested in? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below. For more tips, walkthroughs, and guides for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
