Below you will find a series of posts showing off the years of fun Nintendo fans had on the Miiverse, a social network for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, created by Nintendo System Development and Hatena, and powered by the Nintendo Network. It was discontinued on November 7, 2017. Integrated into every game, Miiverse allowed players to interact and share their experiences through their own Miis by way of drawings, text, screenshots, and sometimes game videos. It was available via any web browser, with planned apps for tablets and smartphones. Miiverse is not available on the Nintendo Switch.
Miiverse was announced on June 3, 2012 during a pre-E3 Nintendo Direct event; the service initially launched on the Wii U on November 18, 2012 and was later made available for the Nintendo 3DS on December 9, 2013. A web-based portal was opened on April 25, 2013.
Few can match this masterful art piece, even if it is sideways.
Splatoon can be fun, but this table turned into a bit of a bummer when these two Miiverse posters sat next to each other.
Sure the WiiU sold horribly, but if you consider this logic is should be the best selling console of all time.
Sometimes some pretty deep shower thoughts can make their way to the Miiverse.
Sure yeahs and likes seem similar in their utilization, but Miiverse users will let you know the difference.
It’s always crazy what Nintendo fans can create with the limited resources available to them, like this awesome drawing of Mario painting a few objects one could find around the Mario Bros. universe.
This drawing of Ganon is so detailed you would think it was made on Photoshop and not Miiverse.
When popular actor Robin Williams passed away, this amazing tribute post was done in his honor. Williams was known to be a huge fan of Nintendo, and even named his own daughter Zelda after the franchise.
As a thank you from Nintendo to all those who used the Miiverse during its hay day, a huge mosaic was made using smaller Miiverse posts. The Miiverse service ended officially in November 2017, but you can still check out the thank you mosaic (and zoom in to see all its components) here.
On August 29th, 2017, Nintendo announced its intentions to shut down its Wii U and 3DS social network, Miiverse. They gave users two months to get their posts, their drawings, and their screenshots copied from the site. Also, if requested, they offered an archive of a their content to be received after the shutdown. However, they did not include replies (both on their posts and comments made on other users posts).
After Miiverse service has ended, an e-mail notification that includes the URL to download your post history will be sent to the e-mail address registered to your Nintendo Account. Please note this e-mail will not be sent to the e-mail address registered to your Nintendo Network ID. It may take a few weeks after Miiverse service has ended to receive the e-mail with your downloadable post history. Please be patient.
