Persona 5 was officially released for PS3 and PS4 just two years ago, and Atlus is already back with an enhanced version of the game, titled Persona 5 Royal. Not only is there a ton of new story content to get through, there are also new dungeon and combat mechanics for players to get used to as well. Here’s how to use Showtime skills in Persona 5 Royal.
Using Showtime Skills in Persona 5 Royal
After clearing Kamoshida’s Castle in the game, you’ll be introduced to Mementos, as well as the new character Jose. Jose quickly gives you a star, but doesn’t quite explain what it’s for.
The star will only come into play later on in the game, after you’ve recruited Makoto to your party and unlocked Kaneshiro’s bank as the third dungeon. During your first visit to the dungeon, Morgana will automatically introduce Showtime skills to you.
If you’ve played Persona 4 Golden, you’ll likely be familiar with the duo attacks that would occasionally trigger if you had two specific characters in your party. Showtime skills are pretty much the same thing, and specific pairings of characters will be able to use them at random points in battle.
To start, the only Showtime skill available to you will be for Ann and Morgana. The Showtime activation seems to be completely random, but you can trigger it with Baton Passes, and it can also activate if enemies are at low health, or if one of your party members are in danger.
Whenever it’s available, you’ll see a prompt at the bottom of your screen, and you can press the touchpad to activate it. Unlike duo attacks from Persona 4 Golden, however, Showtime skills do not seem to guarantee a critical hit.
To recap, here’s how to use Showtime skills in Persona 5 Royal:
