How to Join Friends on Expeditions in Monster Hunter World
Monster Hunter World is out in the wild finally. Capcom’s latest entry in the popular Monster Hunter series finally takes the traditionally handheld games into the AAA console space. One of the biggest draws of course, is being able to play online with your friends from the comfort of your home console in both quests, and the more free-roam expeditions. Here’s how to join friends on expeditions in Monster Hunter World.
First, go on a quest together with your friend, and once you’ve completed it, instead of selecting to return to Astera (the hub world), choose to return to camp in the environment you’re currently exploring. In doing so, Monster Hunter World will put you straight into an expedition with the friends who were just questing with you.
There are some restrictions though and some other things you should keep mind. You can’t do this the first time you’re going on an expedition in a particular area in Monster Hunter World. Also, everyone must have unlocked the area, otherwise you won’t be able to go on expeditions with your friends.
Joining friends in online sessions is pretty straightforward, as you can either host a session and send an invite to your friend, or just join their online session instead. When your friend posts a quest, you can accept it from the quest board. If it’s a mission they’re attempting for the first time, you can join them via the SOS Flare function after they viewed the introductory cutscene.
