On the most basic level, it’s a massive game with plenty of ground for players to cover and explore. The game’s map comes in at 1,024 square kilometers, or 636.28 square miles.
While comparable to past entries on paper, this map is actually more packed with terrain for players to explore and play through. Whereas most past games had bodies of water without much to interact with included, the majority of Just Cause 4’s map is traversable land with something to find within it.
Not only that, but that sizable space is filled with people to interact with. This includes Rico’s allies, who will help him through his assault against the mercenary group known as the Black Hand, and the Black Hand themselves, who are determined to silence Rodriguez once and for all.
Throw in random extreme weather events that can tear the landscape and enemy bases alike asunder, as well as a slew of secrets and easter eggs to uncover, and you’ve got plenty to justify calling this game an open world title.
