Kid Flash, also known as Wally West, is one of the founding members of the Young Justice Team. As the show progresses, fans may wonder, what happened to this major character in the series? More importantly, did Wally West die in the show? We’ll help you understand this hero’s fate and possible future.
Wally West’s Fate in Young Justice
During the season finale of Season 2, Wally West sacrifices himself to stop the detonation of the Magnetic Field Disruptor. Unfortunately, this hero of Young Justice was slower than Barry and Bart Allen, which caused the chrysalis’ energy to attack him. Wally notices his body fading away and tells the Flash his dying wish.
Kid Flash asks Barry to tell his parents and Artemis that he loves him. Shortly after this, he evaporates, saving the world from destruction. The remaining team members celebrate their win but soon discover the death of Wally West. The Justice League also arrives a little too late to help the team and mourns this devastating loss.
Artemis was Wally’s girlfriend, so she was the most devasted to hear the news. For instance, in the next season, she hallucinates a married life with her past love, where they even have a baby.
In the end, it is Bart Allen who takes on the mantle of Kid Flash. He is hesitant to take on the role, but he knows it’s for the greater good. In addition, some fans have speculated about Wally West’s return due to his Phantom arrival in Season 4. However, his appearance isn’t the same as it used to be, and he is presumably in limbo.
Is it possible that this original Kid Flash of Young Justice could be making his return to the series? Only time will tell, but for now, we will have to keep our hopes up.
