No Man’s Sky is all about exploring a universe set up by Hello Games. It’s a vast, galaxy out there, with travel time between planets taking quite a bit. Not to mention the amount of planets you’ll come across on your adventures. So, with how big the game is, it’s certainly going to be easy to get lost. Luckily, there’s some help!
While there is no minimap for your HUD in No Man’s Sky, you do have a compass on screen with points of interests, letting you know where you should head. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim uses this same method, to use another game as an example of how this works. The compass will always let you know where you have landed your ship, so you won’t ever lose track of your getaway vehicle, should things suddenly turn sour.
Other than that, the greater map in the game is a bit confusing to use at first. As it takes some getting used to, you’re better off relying on this HUD compass to find locations. Additionally, as you get closer to points of interest, their icons will float around the screen. You simply move towards them at this point, as they’ll be nearby.
