How to Open the First Rune Gate in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
Rune Gates make up a large portion of the puzzles in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, requiring you to piece together runes in order to open the way forward. You’ll encounter the first gate early on in your journey, as your first make your way into Hell. After completing the opening sections you’ll make your way up a cliff and through a small cave, where you’ll run straight into the gate. Notice the glowing rune on the front of it, and note the shape that the rune takes.
What you need to do with the first gate, and all the others in Hellblade is find something in the environment that matches the shape of the rune. In the case of the first gate, turn around and head back around the bend. Look on the wall to your left for a shaft of light displaying a shadow on the wall. If you look at the shadow you’ll notice that it has formed the shape of the rune you’re looking for. Now all you need to do is focus on the shadow and line up the transparent rune on your screen with it. The game will confirm that you’ve found the correct shape and the way forward through the first gate will be opened to you.
