Deacon’s bike is an integral part of your experience in Days Gone. You’ll have to maintain it, upgrade it, and make it your own with a variety of customization options. Not to mention that it’s generally handy for getting around the world. Here’s everything you need to know on how to customize and upgrade the motorbike in Days Gone.

How to Customize & Upgrade the Motorbike in Days Gone

First things first, it’s important to note that you’ll need to make use of two different camps if you want to gain access to the full extent of customization and upgrade options in Days Gone.

Specifically, these are Copeland’s camp which you come across towards the start of the game, and Iron Mike’s camp which comes a little bit later.

You’ll need to raise your Trust level with each of these camps in order to unlock more customization and upgrade options, and these, of course, cost Credits, too. It’s worth noting that both the Trust and Credits you earn with one particular camp are camp-specific, and cannot be used at another.

For example, if you earn 1,000 Credits at Copeland’s camp, they cannot be used at Iron Mike’s.

How to Upgrade the Bike in Days Gone

As we previously mentioned, to upgrade and customize Deacon’s bike in Days Gone, you’ll need to head to either Copeland’s or Iron Mike’s camps. Specifically, you want to look out for Manny at Copeland’s camp, who can be found just on the left as you enter the camp.

Head over and press Square to interact and talk with him, and you’ll see a screen that looks something like this.

You’ll need to have made a delivery or improved your stature with Copeland before you’ll likely be able to get any kind of upgrades, however, so keep this in mind when you’re given the option of delivering the drug stash to either Copeland or Tucker’s camps early on in the game.

The three separate options you’ll be given when speaking with a mechanic at either camp are pretty self-explanatory. Performance is all about upgrading how your bike handles, how fast it goes, how big the fuel tank is and how much damage it can take and so on.

For upgrading the bike in Days Gone, you want to select this Performance option. You’ll then be able to upgrade various aspects of the bike, the effects of which we’ve broken down for you below:

  • Engine – Determines the bike’s max speed.
  • Exhaust – Determines the distance at which enemies can hear the bike.
  • Storage – Enables you to carry more ammo refills on the bike.
  • Fuel Tank – Increases the bike’s max fuel capacity.
  • Frame – The frame is the primary part which contributes to the bike’s max health.
  • Nitrous – Allows the bike a short speed burst.
  • Tires – Determines the bike’s traction.

Simply select the part of the bike you want to upgrade and as long as you’ve got enough Credits for the specific camp you’re upgrading the bike at, you’ll be able to purchase it.

How to Customize the Motorbike

Customizing the bike in Days Gone is very much the same process. However, you’ll want to dive into Visual from the Mechanics menus to change the look of the various parts of the bike, and Paint to change the color.

You can change decals, accent paint, frame paint, and exhaust tips, the front fender, wheels, the headlight and more.

All you need to do is scroll through the options you’ve unlocked and purchase them by holding X on an option that you have enough Credits to purchase.

How to Unlock More Customization & Upgrade Parts for the Motorbike in Days Gone

What you may find, however, is that when you initially want to upgrade or customize the bike in Days Gone that there aren’t any parts available to you. This is because unlocking the various upgrades and options requires you to have earned Trust with that specific camp.

Trust is best earned by completing camp missions, but can also be earned by completing some story missions, and turning in bounties.

That’s everything you need to know about how to customize and upgrade the motorbike in Days Gone. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check out our ever-expanding guide wiki.
